Training programs developed and presented by yourceus.com will be designed to offer the most useful and up to date information in each topic area, presented in a manner that is clear, straightforward, and easy to grasp. Emerging Aptitudes in Clinical Practice: A Skill Advancement Symposium

Trainees may take from 3-17 hours of their choosing, to be selected from 5 different modules. 7 total possible hours are available on both Thursday and Friday, with 4 hours available on Saturday. Trainees may sign up for as many hours as they like, and attend only the modules they want to take on any or all days.

 

This training program is designed to offer the mental health clinician a useful addition to the skill sets and knowledge base in clinical practice, including a focus on the consulting, teaching and mentoring aspects of practice. Details of the available modules are shown below, with dates and times for each.

Module One: Introduction to the Consulting, Teaching and Mentoring Aspects of Clinical Practice

Four Hours Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:15 PM

Areas to be covered:
Introduction to the core competencies of consulting, teaching and mentoring
Overview of evidence based consulting, teaching and mentoring
Examination of the distinction between counseling and consulting, teaching and mentoring roles
Establishing an agreement for consulting, teaching and mentoring roles
Overview of the vision, goal setting and planning process
Defining and providing practice opportunities for the use of direct and engaging questions
Examination of the role of accountability in consulting, teaching and mentoring roles

Module Two: Key Ethical Considerations in Consulting, Teaching and Mentoring Roles

Three hours Thursday from 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM

Legal definitions of ethics in consulting, teaching and mentoring roles
Roles and boundaries in consulting, teaching and mentoring roles
Brief overview of relevant points from the Codes of Ethics
Best ethical decision making models for consulting, teaching and mentoring roles
Examination of scenarios to highlight key points

Module Three: Mind-Body-Wellness: The Essential Wellness Knowledge Base for Clinical Practice

Areas to be covered:
Definition of mind-body wellness and its relationship to conventional medicine
Values, attitudes, and beliefs of mind/body techniques
Brief overview of complementary/alternative medicine (CAM) approaches to health and healing
Examination of current research in various CAM modalities
Integration of CAM principles and practices into coaching for total wellness

Module Four: Keeping it Clean: Effective Practices for Client-centered Coaching and Counseling
